About the Owners
Lavender Cottage is owned by Nicki & Simon Hancock with their children Izzy & James.
Simon’s grandparents Barbara and Charles Hancock bought the property as a holiday home when Charles retired in 1971. They had done considerable research to find their favourite seaside location within easy reach of their home near London and the result was Lavender Cottage in Middleton on Sea. What a find! From the outset they rented the property when not using it themselves. It’s superb location and wonderful beach quickly attracted regular guests who returned year after year.
In 1999 their daughter Sue (Simon’s auntie) became joint owner with Charles. Sue adored Lavender Cottage and this was reflected in the improvements she made to the house and gardens. Guests continued to adore it too and by this time many had been returning annually for decades! Indeed we still welcome some of these loyal guests now!
By 2010 Charles and Sue had moved to Dorset to be closer to Simon’s parents so, for a variety of reasons, it made sense for us to buy and refurbish it. With the aid of a website Nicki replaced the role of the retiring letting agent.
We live in Elstead, Surrey so are extremely grateful for Simon’s grandparents buying somewhere so convenient and special. It is Izzy and James’ favourite place for a holiday by far and we all love staying whenever we can. This is never often enough but at least that means others get to enjoy it too!
